Two things you need from your putter: it must make it easier for you to control speed, and it must make it easy for you to square the face and get the ball rolling on the target line.
You want a consistent ball speed off as much of the face as possible because no one strikes it perfectly every time. With SOFT you’ll notice that the groove lines are more densely grouped at the centre while the spread grows as you move towards the heel and toe. This pattern works to create an even energy transfer to the ball across the face.
The biggest influence on your ability to set your putt on the line you’ve targeted will be your ability to square the face to that target line at impact. Some putters are designed to make it easy for the toe to open and close (for those with an arc in their stroke). Other putters are harder to open or close, making them perfect for those with a straight-back-and-straight-through putting stroke.

Every Cleveland Golf Putter group comes with different options to fit with different putting strokes. As well as different head and hosel designs, there are different grips to either quiet your hands or allow them to be more active.
To further help you set the ball rolling on-line, the FRONTLINE series uses the super soft tungsten insert as a weight to bring the CoG as far forward as possible.
See that huge circle in the graphic above?
That’s the path of rotation for this putter’s face. So, if you hit the
ball off-centre, the face’s movement along this large arc is going to
shove your putt far off-line.
The same miss-hit on a front-weighted putter causes its face to rotate along a small arc. See the small circle above? That smaller arc means less off-line force, so miss-hit putts roll straighter.
Don’t waste the technology available in the latest Cleveland Golf Putter lines. With all the effort to help you to square the face and get the ball on-line with a consistent energy transfer, the least we can do is get you into a setup that matches your stroke type.
