We all want our wedges to give us added spin while being easier to hit. And all wedge manufacturers promise you just that. But Cleveland has taken things a step further with their new RTX 6 ZipCore Wedges.

It’s not just on those perfect fairway lies that you need added spin into the green. You need spin, perhaps even more, in testing conditions. When the turf is wet, when the lie is rough. That’s where the RTX 6 ZipCore really comes into its own. Keep reading to find out more. Or, if you want to get your hands on these amazing new wedges, get in touch with us.

Less slipping, more spinning

In wet conditions, the ball tends to slip up the face of high-lofted clubs and reduce the amount of spin generated. The faces on the new Cleveland RTX 6 ZipCore Wedges are blasted with a finish that increases friction, while lasered micro-milling adds another layer of roughness. This added texture not only makes the face bite the ball more at impact, it also enables water to move away from the surface that actually comes into contact with the ball.

Relish the rough

When you’re in a rough lie such as thick grass or sand, you need your wedge to cut through the turf and get as much of the impact zone in contact with the ball as possible. Cleveland’s UltiZip grooves are now sharper and deeper, while also packing two more groove lines than the previous generation. The result is a face that makes more contact with the ball and bites more when it does. You get added spin when you least expect it, but need it most.

Free to enjoy

When you’re able to trust your wedges and play with full confidence, it frees you up to express yourself around the green. The RTX 6 ZipCore gives you that freedom by being more forgiving than ever. By placing an ultra-lightweight, vibration-dampening material into the heel, designers created a significant weight saving. That enabled a CG shift to a position that increases MOI, causing the clubhead to rotate less on mishits, so more of your wedge shots behave like shots hit out of the sweet spot.

Your short game shouldn’t be a grind

Cleveland have added a fourth grind to their familiar trio of wedge grinds, giving us another way to make your short game more enjoyable.

LOW+ (54°-56°)

The more bounce a wedge has, the less prone it is to digging into the turf at impact. The all-new LOW+ grind provides 2 degrees more bounce than the LOW grind. This wedge is ideal for helping golfers make clean contact through the sand, but it’s also versatile for shot-making from any lie.

The amount of bounce you require depends on a variety of factors, such as your swing attack angle (steep or shallow), and the course conditions you play most (firm or soft). The best way to find your grind is to have a wedge fitting.

LOW (58°-60°)

Versatile shot-maker that’s particularly effective for golfers with a shallower attack angle playing on firmer turf.

MID (46°-60°)

All-round performer that works especially well for golfers with a neutral attack angle.

FULL (54°-60°)

The bunker- and rough-specialist, especially for golfers with a steeper attack angle.
